Adcorp Group, a leading workforce solutions provider in South Africa, is thrilled to showcase the remarkable efforts of one of its brands, Labour Solutions Australia (LSA), in driving positive social impact in Australia.

LSA plays a pivotal role in creating opportunities for individuals from the Solomon Islands through the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme. The Scheme which was established in 2008 by the Australian government, aims to assist eligible Australian businesses in hiring workers from nine Pacific islands and Timor-Leste to address labour shortages in regional areas.

According to the Australian Census, the country attracts an average of 215,000 new migrants per year, of which two thirds entered employment in the year 2022. Many of the jobs that require lower-level skills have the highest share of migrant workers and serve a very important sector that contributes to the economy.

LSA has been instrumental in bridging employment gaps in regional Australia while empowering Pacific Islanders with valuable opportunities across various industries. To date, LSA has successfully placed over 1200 full-time workers in sectors such as meat processing, food processing, farming, aquaculture, and warehousing. Through the PALM scheme, LSA not only provides employment opportunities but also enables workers to support their families back home.

LSA recognises that it is important to address the immediate labour shortages while contributing to the long-term sustainability of the aged care industry. Through such partnership, LSA are fostering inclusive growth, empowering communities, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals in areas they operate in.

Aged care worker shortages in Australia have become a pressing concern, encouraging Labour Solutions Australia (LSA) to prioritise this sector. As part of its healthcare expansion under the PALM scheme, LSA’s executive team and National Health Executive Mrs. Lee Cheesman, recently engaged with Aged Care preparatory students in Honiara. The purpose was to outline LSA’s strategy to recruit Solomon Islanders for roles in Australia’s aged care sector.

The students, trained under the Working in Aged Care Preparation Skill Set program by the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), are part of the government’s labour mobility-linked work-ready pool.

The commitment to the PALM scheme goes beyond addressing labour shortages. It’s about changing lives and providing individuals from the Solomon Islands with opportunities to thrive and support their families. Through this initiative, LSA is making a tangible difference in communities and driving positive social impact.
